Lost City: The Discovery of Machu Picchu

Caldecott Honor winner Ted Lewin's beautifully illustrated children's
book, "Lost City: The Discovery of Machu Picchu," stars the young
Quechua guide who helped lead Hiram Bingham to the ruins of Machu Picchu.

Ted will be here himself to tell about this thrilling journey by Bingham
to the wilds of Peru and the treacherous path he carved through
snake-filled jungles and across perilous mountains in search of
Vilcapampa, the lost city of the Incas. Guided the last steps by the
Quechua boy, however, he discovered not the rumored lost city, but the
ruins of Machu Picchu, a city totally unknown to the outside world, and
one of the wonders of the world. Ted illustrates his narrative on the
big screen with the powerful paintings he created of this remarkable
ancient city.

Happening in the western sky at sunset... just go outside & look where you have a clear view to the west (the sunset). You can't miss 'em. Really.

Just after the sun sets, and before the first stars appear is an especially nice time to look. (Around 7:30 - 8:30pm.)
